Authorities in China’s top seafood producing region have thanked experts from Israel for training local farmers to improve the efficiency and the environmental performance of their operations.
A training event in Fujian Province this month saw Israeli aquaculture experts flown in to advise on systems, disease management, and water quality at a series of seminars in Ningde city, home of China’s largest farmed yellow croaker industry.
Ningde also boasts China’s largest mariculture cage-cultivation facility according to Lin Xue Li, vice director at the Fujian Science and Technology Association, which hosted the event along with local government.
The city’s deputy mayor, Lin Yue Ling, promised further cooperation with Israel – a country China has targeted for cooperation in water conservation, agriculture, and military equipment. The improvement of relations between the countries has irked Arab nations long supported by China.
