Lerøy CEO lands Marine Harvest post

Less than a week after ousting Åse Aulie Michelet, Marine Harvest on Tuesday announced that it appointed Alf-Helge Aarskog as CEO.

Currently, Aarskog is CEO of Lerøy Seafood Group ASA. Previously, he served as executive VP of Lerøy Seafood Group, managing director of Lerøy Midnor AS and head of production for Fjord Seafood ASA, which merged with Marine Harvest in 2007.

Aarskog will take up his new post no later than 1 October. Currently, Thomas Farstad, director of operations in Canada and Scotland, is serving as acting CEO.

Aarskog “is a well qualified manager with a strong track record within salmon farming and in-depth knowledge about the salmon farming industry,” said Marine Harvest chairman Ole-Eirik Lerøy.

Oslo, Norway-based Marine Harvest is the world’s largest farmed salmon producer.
