According to various news reports out of Australia, Tasmanian salmon farmer Tassal Group has appointed Trevor Gerber as director, a week after three board members abruptly left the company.
Gerber is a director at Sydney Airport Holdings Ltd. and a member of the advisory board of construction and property firm St. Hilliers Group. He was nominated by the Orbis Group, which has a significant interest in Tassal.
On 30 March, Tassal chairman Allan McCallum said in a statement to the Australian Securities Exchange that David Groves, Gary Helou and Clive Hooke had quit Tassal’s seven-person board. ABC News reported that they had misgivings about Hong Kong-based Pacific Andes Resources Development’s plan to acquire a 51 percent interest in the company over the next five years.
