The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI) is removing the “interim” label from Jeremy Woodrow’s title.
The ASMI Board of Directors selected Jeremy Woodrow as its executive director, a position Woodrow has filled on an interim basis since December 2018, when Alexa Tonkovich, who had served as ASMI’s executive director since 2015, stepped down.
Woodrow started as ASMI as the organization’s communications director in 2017. ASMI is a public-private partnership between the state of Alaska and the Alaska seafood industry working to promote Alaska’s seafood industry and its products.
"The ASMI board is proud to have a life-long Alaskan with close ties to Alaska fishing industry lead Alaska seafood's global marketing efforts,” ASMI Board of Directors Chairman Jack Schultheis said. “The Alaska Seafood brand is as strong as ever and we are confident that Jeremy's leadership will advance the direction and mission of the agency.”
As executive director, Woodrow will administer all ASMI programs and operations out of its global headquarters, located in Juneau, according to the organization.
Raised in Juneau in a commercial fishing family, Woodrow first worked with ASMI as a communications program intern, then as a staff member of the PR agency Schiedermayer and Associates Alaska, which contracted with ASMI. Woodrow also worked for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities as its communications officer. Woodrow has bachelor’s degrees in public relations and advertising from Northern Arizona University.

I look forward to working closer with the ASMI board and the seafood industry to achieve our mission on the behalf of Alaskans.”
