Mowi CP of the Americas has announced its hiring of Spencer McDonald to the position of director of sales, with the mission of incremental program expansion across the company’s seafood categories in the Americas.
McDonald joins Mowi with 25 years of experience in sales, business strategy, and development. His most recent role was as senior director of grocery sales and alternative channels for Turkey Hill LLC. That experience, Mowi said, will lend to his new role on the Mowi sales team.
“Mowi is a recognized leader in retail seafood category growth. As customers invest in their integrated omnichannel approaches, we will continue to strengthen our executive sales team to be able to support them in achieving their goals,” Mowi Consumer Products of the Americas Managing Director Joe Fidalgo said. “Mowi’s pre-pack business continues to drive our sales growth and we are making a strategic step to develop programs for the Middle and West [U.S.]”
Mowi has three U.S.-based processing facilities and one located in Western Canada, which the company said are “strategically situated to support customers at both the national and regional level and programs can be tailored to service the fresh, frozen, and smoked categories.” Its U.S. sales office is located in Miami, Florida.
Mowi added that the company plans to focus on brand expansion in 2021 and 2022 on the back of opportunities caused by increased seafood consumption in the U.S. The company had success with e-commerce, recently launched in brick-and-mortar stores earlier this year, and plans to develop programs in the Mowi Essential and Mowi Gourmet product lines.
“We are excited to welcome Spencer into the Mowi team,” Mowi Director of Sales Robert Clark said. “His [consumer packaged goods] experience will help drive forward what has already been rapid growth in the seafood category for Mowi. We have built some very significant nationwide partnerships and from the supply chain perspective, we can deliver any product, anywhere, nationwide.”
