– Naomi Matthews is the new managing director of Trident Seafoods Europe and Pickenpack Seafoods, Trident’s German whitefish-processing subsidiary.
In a LinkedIn post announcing the news, Matthews said “I am returning to an industry I love” and thanked the Trident and Pickenpack team for welcoming her.
Matthews has worked for several years in food industry leadership roles, most recently as commercial strategy and food innovation director at Costa Coffee, a U.K.-based Coca-Cola subsidiary. Prior to that, Matthews was the commercial and new product development director of U.K.-based Park Cake Bakery and the head of trade in seafood and meal solutions for Australian supermarket chain Coles.
Pickenpack, which operates as a separate entity from Trident, was purchased by Trident in 2016 after it entered bankruptcy; last year, the company resumed buying Russia-sourced pollock, despite Trident Seafoods CEO Joe Bundrant having supported the U.S. government’s March 2022 ban on Russian seafood.

She also brings experience in in-vitro cellular dease models that Umami Bioworks expects to draw on as it expands its cell-based and cultivated seafood offerings.
In a LinkedIn post announcing the appointment, Mundkur said she was thrilled to be joining the Umami Bioworks team.
“I am fascinated by the science behind sustainable food production and look forward to leveraging my experience to provide innovative scientific solution[s],” she said.
