Massachusetts-based seafood importer and manufacturer Stavis Seafoods has secured approval for its proposal to build a new processing facility in Boston's Raymond L. Flynn Marine Park, the supplier announced on Thursday, 29 November.
The approval from the Port Authority comes after Stavis teamed up with a new developer, Pilot Development Partners, after Stavis’ initial developer partner failed to meet a construction deadline. As a result of the missed deadline, the property owner Massport put the parcel land back out for rebid, prompting Stavis to regroup with Pilot Development.
The new complex will measure 140,000 square feet when complete, with Stavis Seafoods as the primary tenant. While the complex will primarily be used to process seafood, it may also serve trucking and shipping functions as well, Stavis Seafoods CEO Chuck Marble said.
“Pilot Development has proven to be the ideal partner for our Parcel 5 proposal and plans,” Marble said in a press release. “We are incredibly enthusiastic about this proposal and thankful for Massport’s clear commitment to keeping the seafood industry in Boston. This new facility will allow us to consolidate all our operations into one building, creating efficiencies and enhancing our customer service capabilities. We look forward to working with Massport and Pilot on this project and eventually moving into our new home.”
A real estate consulting and management firm, Pilot Development Partners is already working on several projects near to Boston’s waterfront. The developer’s existing business partners include investors, industrial and research and development companies, retailers, apartment owners, and non-profit organizations.
A global seafood sourcing company, Stavis Seafoods offers a variety of seafood products under prominent brands such as BOS’N, Prince Edward, Foods From the Sea, Boston Pride, Ocean Delight, and ChillFresh.
