Tampa Maid hires new executive vice president and COO

U.S. value-added seafood supplier Tampa Maid has hired Rod Van Wyngarden as its new executive vice president and chief operating officer.

Tampa Maid produces the Margaritaville Seafood retail line, as well as innovative value-added products such as Sriracha Breaded Tail-off Mini Shrimp and Honey Habanero Corn Dog Shrimp.

Van Wyngarden, who most recently served as president of Wells Food Processing and has worked at national food manufacturers such as Cargill and PepsiCo, brings more than 30 years of experience in the food business to Lakeland, Florida-based Tampa Maid.

“Rod’s vast food industry knowledge will help Tampa Maid achieve our long-term goals of increased sales and profitability in the value-added seafood and coated foods business,” Tampa Maid’s President and CEO Dave Pearce said.

In September, Tampa Maid hired Chuck Pappas to take on the business development manager role for the supplier’s Southeastern U.S. territory.

Pappas is in charge of honing and overseeing Tampa Maid’s foodservice distribution business, while also brokering a network for the company throughout the Southeast.
