Young’s Seafood appoints new operations director, CFO takes up post

U.K. seafood supplier Young's Seafood Ltd. has appointed Duncan McIntyre as its new group operations director. Joining the company on 12 March, McIntyre will take over the position from Steve Ligett, who will retire at the end of April.

With 26 years experience in food and consumer-facing industries, McIntyre was previously a supply chain director at Nomad Foods where he was responsible for the manufacturing process and distribution of finished goods, turning over a total of 300,000 metric tons (MT) per annum of frozen fish, vegetables and meals. Before that he worked at the Weetabix Food Company as group operations director and he also undertook several senior operational roles at Boots Healthcare International and GlaxoSmithKline.

Bill Showalter, chief executive of Young’s, said that McIntyre was joining the company to support the delivery of the business’s strategic objectives, where his “extensive operational experience” would be extremely valuable.

On his appointment, McIntyre said: “I’m delighted to be joining the team at Young’s Seafood. Young’s is recognized as the UK’s number 1 fish and seafood business with a reputation for quality across multiple categories supplying the retail and foodservice sectors. I’m very much looking forward to playing a role in driving the business forward.”

Meanwhile, Tim Busby has taken up his position as Young’s chief financial officer, an appointment that was announced last year.

Busby has succeeded Malcolm Lofts in the role following the latter’s retirement at the end of 2017. However, Young’s said that Lofts would continue to support the company in an advisory capacity.
