In Iceland, sustainable fisheries take flight

Icelandair Cargo on Friday announced that its freighters now bear the Iceland Responsible Fisheries seal, including the tagline “Absolutely Fresh.”

The seal is part of the Icelandic Fisheries Association’s new marketing campaign, designed to promote the nation’s dedication to sustainable and responsibility managed fisheries.

“As Icelandair Cargo increases its transportion of fresh seafood, it has been important for us to support this expansion by ensuring reliability, deliverary assurance and not in the least sustainable fisheries practices. Iceland has been in the forefront of the world’s responsible fisheries practices,” said Icelandair CEO Gunnar Már Sigurfinnsson.

“This seal is a symbol of Icelandic quality and responsible fishing, which creates a recognition of high standards in Icelandic products,” he added. “We seek to support and uphold those high standards and carry the seal of Iceland Responsible Fisheries with great pride.”

Icelandair currently operates five Boeing 757-200 cargo planes. Additioanlly, the airline offers cargo space on all passenger flights, including nearly 30 destinations on both sides of the Atlantic.
