Washington Fines Trident for Oil Spill

The Washington Department of Ecology has fined Seattle-based Trident Seafoods $12,000 for causing a Tacoma waterway oil spill last summer.

The spill occurred when a Trident crew was refueling a ship and opened two tanks that were already full, causing an overflow and spilling 90 gallons of diesel oil into the water off Commencement Bay.

Trident has 30 days to appeal the decision.
