ASMI, Alton Brown Create Sustainability Video

The Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute has teamed with Alton Brown, host of Food Network's "Good Eats," "Feasting on Asphalt," and "Iron Chef American" to create a five-minute video on sustainability.

The goal of the video, ASMI announced today, is to help clear up consumer confusion on sustainability and explain how the concept has guided the Alaska seafood industry.

The video was shot on location in Alaska and provides an insider's look at state's fisheries. Viewers can learn about the types of seafood harvested in Alaska, the history of sustainability in the state and the international, federal and state agencies that regulate all aspects of the industry.

"Sustainability has been the cornerstone of Alaska's seafood industry for 50 years. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to help them tell that tale," says Brown. "Now, more than ever, we need to understand how quality seafood makes it to our markets and ultimately onto our plates."

The video can be viewed online at www.alaskaseafood.org.
