Captain D's Seafood Kitchen is running a Lenten promotion called "Seafood Celebration" featuring two 30-second TV spots.

Created by O2 Ideas of Birmingham, Ala., the humorous ads, dubbed "Tailsmack," show diners getting smacked by a fish tail for eating a hamburger and pizza. In the first spot, an office worker is slapped in the face several times by a fish tail as he bites into a burger, and then the fish tail pushes a Captain D's seafood meal in front of him. The voiceover says, "Snap out of it and get to Captain D's Seafood Celebration. Try the Four by Shore Platter with Blue Bay Crab Cake, the Ultimate Premium Shrimp Platter and more from $3.99. Now at Captain D's. Eat upstream."

In the second spot, a husband brings a pizza home to his wife and is hit in the face several times by a fish tail, and then the fish tail pushes two Captain D's seafood meals in front of the couple. The voiceover says the same lines but mentions the Crab & Shrimp Stuffed Tilapia instead of the Ultimate Premium Shrimp Platter.

Captain D's operates nearly 600 fast-casual seafood restaurants, concentrated in the Southeast.

Lent is early this year, running from Feb. 6 (Ash Wednesday) to March 23 (Easter Sunday).
