Captain D’s Reduces Management, Employee Turnover

A hiring-management system designed to help foodservice operators improve employee selection and retention is being rolled out at U.S. quick-service chains Captain D’s and Del Taco.

The chains’ parent company, Sagittarius Brands of Nashville, Tenn., announced earlier this week that it has licensed Silver Creek Technologies’ Sysdine system, which was implemented at company-owned restaurants last year and is now being offered to franchisees.

Sysdine is a Web-based hiring tool that helps companies evaluate potential employees. A one-year Sysdine pilot program helped Captain D’s reduce its management turnover considerably and its hourly-employee turnover by more than 100 percent.

“We’ve had consistently positive feedback from our operators on the friendliness, learning speed and performance of new hires, as well as Sysdine’s ease-of-use,” says Jim Lynde, chief people officer at Sagittarius. “There has been an almost immediate impact on operational results as we gain more Sysdine hires into the market.”

"We selected Sysdine due to the system’s overall potential value and greater functionality. It’s proven to be a great choice," he adds.

The Captain D’s seafood chain operates and franchises 550 restaurants in 26 U.S. states, the Caribbean and several military bases worldwide, while the Del Taco Mexican chain operates more than 500 restaurants in 14 U.S. states.
