Chinese New Year is kicking off early at leading Chinese seafood distributor Dayuchang, which is promoting live Canadian lobsters as the perfect gift for the 16 February holiday.
Dayuchang is selling 1.9-kg live Canadian lobsters for CNY 699 (USD 107.40, EUR 89.72) and 2.25-kg lobsters for CNY 999 (USD 153.50, EUR 128.23). Separately, the firm is listing Clearwater-branded lobster at CNY 358 (USD 55.00, EUR 45.95) per one kg.
A CNY 888 (USD 136.44, EUR 113.99) Dayuchang gift box for Chinese New Year features 500-gram packs of eight different species: ribbon fish, yellow croaker, vannemei shrimp, and pomfret, as well as squid and king prawn, and 350 grams of abalone.
Part of the Dalian-based Zhonghai Group, previously a major seafood processor, Dayuchang operates traditional and online stores and also sells on major online portals.
Company founder and CEO Zheng Yuntao told China’s national agricultural TV (CCTV7) channel that his firm will focus on imported live lobsters, citing growing demand.
