Icelandic seafood available in New York colleges

Icelandic USA, in conjunction with dining services provider Aramark, on Tuesday announced that its seafood will now be available to students at five New York colleges.

The Newport News, Va., company’s seafood is now available on campus at New York University, Drew University, C.W. Post, Barnard and Juliard.

Earlier this year, Chef Hilmar, a well-known culinary expert in Iceland, visited the American Academy of Chefs where he prepared cod, Arctic char and shrimp tacos for students to sample.

“We wanted to introduce Icelandic seafoods to college students,” said Hlynur Gudjonsson, consul and trade commissioner to the consulate general of Iceland. “These students are alert, educated and care about sustainability — the perfect market for fresh seafood from the cool, clean waters of Iceland.”
