Major Chinese seafood processor targets bar snack market with new crispy shrimp product range

One of China’s leading shrimp processors is targeting China’s nightlife for sales of a new line of dried shrimp product.

Guangdong Bai Da Science & Technology has launched a new BD shrimp brand which it’s selling to karaoke bars, cinemas and nightclubs.

The “BD crispy shrimp” line sells at CNY 29.80 (USD 4.41, EUR 3.79) per 30 grams and will be sold nationwide, according to company CEO and chairman Pang Chao Hui. He said the firm is marketing the products as “nutritious bar snacks.”

Located in Zhanjiang, the same city as Guolian Aquatic Group, Bei Da has sought to move from a previous reliance on processing to more domestic sales, according to Pang.

Pang is targeting an ambitious surge in sales in 2017 and the firm will seek a listing on China’s growth enterprise board, a stock exchange for small- and medium-sized companies in China.
