Sysco Corp. yesterday announced its 2008 Supplier of the Year awards yesterday, which included gold award winner McCormick & Co. of Hunt Valley, Md. The seasonings manufacturer includes a popular seafood seasonings line.
The awards were presented at Sysco's first Super Regional Conference held in Houston last week. This is the 14th year that Sysco has annually recognized its top performing suppliers.
Seafood suppliers that won silver awards are Devi Seafoods Ltd. of Visakhapatnam, India, and Rich Products Corp. of Buffalo, N.Y.
Bronze seafood award winners included F.W. Bryce of Gloucester, Mass.; Heartland Catfish of Itta Bena, Miss.; SeaWatch International of Milford, Del.; and Tampa Maid Foods of Lakeland, Fla.
The 2008 award recipients were selected from more than 2,000 eligible suppliers worldwide. Finalists were selected based on key business performance metrics with evaluation by Sysco's U.S. broadline distribution companies, Sysco's corporate merchandising, sourcing, quality assurance and supply chain services departments.
Sysco is the global leader in distributing food and foodservice supply products to restaurants, healthcare and educational facilities, lodging and other away-from-home foodservice establishments. Sysco had $37 billion in 2008 sales.
