Miss. chef wins seafood cook-off

A chef from Mississippi has won the 2013 Great American Seafood Cook-Off.

David Crews, executive chef of Six Shooter Land and Timber, of Drew, Miss., took top honors on 3 August in New Orleans with his dish, Southern nicoise salad with tuna and lump crabmeat.

The contest, now in its 10th year, asked chefs to create unique dishes with domestic seafood and utilize fish that’s native to their home states.

“Chef David Crews prepared an extraordinary dish, and we’re proud to add his name to our list of past winners,” said Ewell Smith, the contest’s executive producer and founder.
