Responsibly sourced seafood and craft beer showcase coming to Miami for World Oceans Day

For World Oceans Day – observed on Thursday, 8 June –  Miami, Florida-based company Sea Delight is teaming up with Chef Ryan Martin and M.I.A. Beer Company to host a responsibly-sourced seafood and craft beer event to honor the oceans of the world.

The event, to take place at Chef Martin’s 180º restaurant in Miami, will feature dishes highlighting responsibly-acquired seafood species paired with craft beers “selected to blend with the flavors and essence of each fish dish,” explained Sea Delight. The top-billed dishes on the menu include:

  • Spicy Tuna Poke – USD 14.00 (EUR 12.42) – yellowfin tuna - diced raw tuna - green inion - sesame seeds - soy sauce - ozeki sake - sriracha - miso - mango avocado salsa, paired with: M.I.A. Big In Japan Sake Beer (10 percent ABV);  USD 8.00 (EUR 7.12) full pour.
  • Octopus Ceviche – USD 16.00 (EUR 14.20) – octopus - red onion- cucumber - jalapeno - cilantro - lime juice - yuzu koshu - yuzu juice - yuzo tobiko, paired with: M.I.A  Yachtzee Saison (5.5 percent ABV);  USD 6.00 (EUR 5.34) per full pour.
  • Fried Snapper Sandwich – USD 16.00 (EUR 14.20) – crispy fried snapper - jicama apple slaw, jalapeno - horseradish garlic aioli, paired with: M.I.A. Neon White IPA (7.5 percent ABV); USD 7.00 (EUR 6.23) per full pour.
  • Steelhead Trout – USD 18.00 (EUR 15.97) – Trout sous vide at 117º in an Asian marinade comprised of sesame oil, sake, brown sugar and soy, paired with: M.I,A,. Amberghini Amber Ale (5.5 percent ABV); USD 6.00 (EUR 5.34) per full pour.

The event exists as an expansion of the “Taste of the Sea," f a series of events occurring throughout the year benefiting the Sea Delight Ocean Fund, which carries out sustainable seafood fundraising and education.

"We are expanding our ‘Taste of the Sea’ annual fundraiser to include smaller and more intimate events to create awareness about seafood sustainability and the health of the oceans,” said Adriana Sanchez, president of the Sea Delight Ocean Fund, in a news release. “This year we join a global celebration of our oceans by bringing to Miami ‘Taste of the Sea’ to support World Oceans Day on 8 June. This daylong ‘responsibly sourced seafood’ and craft beer showcase is dedicated to celebrating ocean ecosystems, as well as sharing information about land-to-sea connections and the role people play in assuring the health of the world's ocean for future generations.”

New collaborator M.I.A. Beer Company will be donating 50 percent of the proceeds for upcoming “Taste of the Sea” event to the Sea Delight Ocean Fund.
