Saucy Fish Co. launches in US

The Saucy Fish Co. announced beginning 9 March it’s fish and sauce combinations will be available in the U.S., just in time for Lent.

This move follows the international listing in Norway in February of last year and demonstrates the brand’s global ambitions.

The Saucy Fish Co. will be sold in 390 Giant Carlisle and Giant Landover stores, which are based in eight states throughout the North East. The two sister Giant retailers are a subsidiary of Ahold.

The initial product line up will include three fish and sauce products, two of the brand’s Foil Bake Bag products and two from the new range of Ready to Enjoy Salmon. The selection of seven products include two new products designed specifically for the U.S. market.

The new products include Salmon with a Sweet Soy & Chili dressing and Tilapia with a Thai Sauce Foil Bake Bag. Other products include Salmon with Chili, Lime and Ginger, Tilapia with Mango & Chili Dressing, Foil Bake Bag Salmon with Sweet Chili Dressing, Ready to Enjoy Steamed Salmon with Lime and Cilantro Dressing and Ready to Enjoy Roasted Sweet Chili Salmon with Tomato & Chili Chutney.

“This U.S. listing represents a great triumph for The Saucy Fish Co. The U.S. is the world’s third largest consumer of seafood, and it’s been reported that consumption of fresh and frozen fish fillets has climbed 12 percent in 2013 and is at its highest level since 1984, so it’s a great time to launch Saucy Stateside,” Simon Smith, sales and marketing director, said.

“Globally, we’re aiming to become a EUR 200 million (USD 278 million) brand by 2015. We are confident that The Saucy Fish Co. will secure further U.S. listings this year, and we expect this to be the first in a line of international announcements over the next 18 months.”

The Saucy Fish Co. brand will first be introduced to U.S. consumers through a combination of digital marketing and in-store sampling. The two new products will also be competing in the New Product Competition at Seafood Expo North America in Boston from 16 to 18 March.
