Trident Seafoods wins big at Alaska SOS

The winners of the 2011 Alaska Symphony of Seafood were announced Friday at an awards ceremony at the Hilton Anchorage Alaska Hotel.

Trident Seafoods’ Wild Alaskan Smoked & Peppered Sockeye Salmon, also the winner of the Seattle’s People’s Choice Award, was the grand prize winner as well as the first place winner in the smoked products category.

And Trident’s winnings didn’t end there. The Seattle-based company also took first place in the foodservice category for its Crispanko Alaska Pollock Mini-Sliders and second place in the retail category for its Teriyaki Salmon Burger.

Second and third place in the foodservice category went to American Pride Seafoods for its Potato Breaded Cod Fillets and Blackened Alaska Pollock.

In the retail category, Orca Bay Foods took first place with its SteamWell Seafoods Sockeye Salmon with Tuscan Herb Sauce, and its Crabby Sisters Gluten-Free Alaskan King Crab Cakes captured third place.

Wild Kenai Red Salmon’s Wild and Organic Borealis Smoked Sockeye Salmon and Wayne Carpenter’s Candysmoke from Wayne Carpenter’s Candysmoke took second and third place, respectively, in the smoked products category.

Wayne Carpenter’s Candysmoke was also the recipient of the Anchorage People’s Choice Award.

The first place winners in each category will receive free booth space at the International Boston Seafood Show in March, as well as airfare to and from the event.
