Walmart tilapia processor launches range for the Chinese market

Guangzhou Lu Shi Aquatic Products Co., a major supplier of tilapia to Seattle, Washington, U.S.A.-based Members Mark, the private label of Sam's Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, is launching a range of Western-style products aimed at the domestic market in China.

The company’s new “Mai Le Yu” range of packaged and breaded frozen seafood products, including fish burgers and fish sausages, is aimed at China’s younger consumers. The company has already targeted older more traditional customers with another frozen, packaged range including fish balls and fish-style tofu.

Founded in 1993, Guangzhou Lu Shi is located in Guangzhou Huadu district’s Tanbu Industrial Park. The company hopes to put the know-how it gained supplying a major U.S. client to use its upcoming launch of the Mai Le Yu range.
