Young's expands Funky Fish line

U.K. retail seafood company Young's Seafood Limited is adding seven new products to its The Funky Fish Kitchen line, starting on 31 March.

The product line first appeared in British grocery chain Asda's stores in September 2013, geared toward making it easy for consumers to incorporate fish into their lunch and dinner recipes.

"The range has been a real hit with consumers since we introduced it six months ago and we're really pleased to be able to bring them more ways to funk up their mealtimes with fish," said Marina Richardson, marketing controller at Young's. "At Young's Seafood Limited we're committed to encouraging consumers to eat fish twice a week in line with government recommendations and these new products give consumers even more delicious flavors to choose from."

The new products include two ready-to-eat salmon products: honey roast salmon fillets with sweet mustard and dill dressings, and smoked salmon with zesty lemon, lime and chili dressing. Both are made to be easy to take for lunch, in a salad or sandwich.

Two of the products, promoted as "ready to cook," include trout fillets with lemon and Mediterranean herb butter and smoked cod fillets with a sweet red pepper. Both come in packaging that is safe for the microwave.

The other three products, geared toward being cooked as part of a dinner meal, include cod fillets in cider, roasted shallot and chive beurre blanc sauce, cod fillets with a coconut, tomato, lime and chili sauce and cod fishcakes with a cheese, dill and tarragon sauce center.

The company also plans to introduce one more new product at the end of April in microwave-friendly packaging: smoked cod fillet with a sweet red pepper, garlic and chilli butter.
