Young’s Seafood exec to step down, assume new position

Young’s Seafood Ltd. has announced that Mike Mitchell, its CSR and technical director, will be stepping down from his role starting 1 November.

Mitchell is not leaving the Grimsby, U.K.-based company, but the announcement of his stepping down did not specifically say what his new title would be.

“In his new role, Mike will continue to advise the board and the company on CSR and technical issues, while playing a more active role in the global seafood sustainability arena,” said CEO Pete Ward. “Mike will be able to provide advice to NGOs, voluntary sector and public bodies, on a part-time basis, as part of this arrangement. We believe that the seafood sustainability community will benefit from Mike’s expertise and that, in turn, this will help to ensure that responsibly sourced fish can be enjoyed for generations to come.”

Mitchell has worked for Young’s for the more than 30 years. Ward said Mitchell chose to make the change to more actively work with NGOs “and have a different work-life balance.”
