Young’s Seafood Limited went for gold on 11 June and prevailed when the retailer was awarded the British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF) Retail Gold Award for Best New Fish-based Product for its Gastro Cod, Spinach and Cheese Gratin.
Incepted by in-house Development Chef Serge Nollent and launched in 2012, the Gastro brand seeks out new and contemporary flavor combinations with the help of delicious, sustainably-sourced fish and seafood. Young’s Gastro line exists as one of the U.K.’s fastest growing frozen seafood brands – it’s currently worth upwards of EUR 27 million (USD 30.4 million).
“At Young’s Seafood, we’re committed to creating easy to cook, healthy and delicious fish dishes for our consumers and it’s a real honor to receive an award voted for by them,” said Wayne Hudon, Managing Director of Young’s Frozen Business.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to have won this award. The Gastro range is designed to inspire people to cook and eat restaurant quality dishes in the home and we’re delighted that our consumers have recognised us with this amazing award. I’d like to thank everyone in the team for their hard work in developing and producing this delicious dish,” added Yvonne Adam, Marketing Director of Young’s Seafood Limited, regarding the BFFF win.
The Annual Retail Awards are held by the BFFF, a U.K. frozen food trade association with over 300 members, and judged by consumers. The Gastro winning dish was featured earlier this year in a series of TV adverts that showcased Young’s brand ambassador Malcom the Cat, a “discerning foodie cat” voiced by actor Rupert Everett.
