Fosnavåg, Norway-based water treatment system supply company Norwegian Greentech will deliver water treatment systems to several live fish carriers over the next two years, working as a subcontractor for Fosnavåg, Norway-based fish handling company MMC First Process.
“By ensuring clean, high-quality water, the water treatment system helps safeguard fish welfare, improve operational efficiency, and minimize environmental impact,” Norwegian Greentech Senior Vice President of Commercial Børge Gjelseth said.
Norwegian Greentech will contribute a filter and UV-based process for water treatment in each vessel, according to a release by the company.
“It is great to cooperate with a complete system supplier such as MMC First Process," Norwegian Greentech interim Managing Director Thor Valsø-Jørgensen said. "They are resolute in their efforts to constantly evolve fish handling and processing solutions that manage seafood effectively, sustainably and carefully, and we believe that our water treatment products are a good match for their system architecture."
According to MMC First Process' website, the company has worked with fish handling systems for the past 35 years on processes such as pumping, grading, cooling, and storing. The company claims its approach prioritizes fish welfare through gentle fish handling, maintaining appropriate temperatures, and monitoring surveillance systems to maintain biomass security.
Norwegian Greentech is a subsidiary of HAV Group ASA, which is listed on Euronext Growth Oslo, Norway, the release said. The company has worked with other Norwegian seafood companies to install water treatment systems, such as Nordic Halibut and Arctic Seafarms. The company operates and designs ballast water management systems, aquaculture process treatment systems, and Ro and freshwater solution systems in several sectors across the maritime industry.
