Poland and the Netherlands were the two biggest export markets for all categories of Norwegian salmon in weeks 29 and 30 of 2026, data aggregated by the SeafoodSource Pricing Portal and produced by the Norwegian Seafood Council has shown. China, Spain, and France rounded out the rest of the top five markets by mass during both weeks.

Spain and China saw the highest average export prices for all categories of Atlantic salmon in the same time period. In Week 29, Spain paid the most for salmon from Norway, around NOK 87 per kilogram (USD 9.06, EUR 7.93), while China paid around NOK 78 per kilogram (USD 8.12, EUR 7.11). In Week 30, China paid the highest prices globally, around NOK 82 per kilogram (USD 8.54, EUR 7.47), while Spain paid NOK 77 per kilogram (USD 8.02, EUR 7.01).

France, the Netherlands, and Poland rounded out the top five highest priced markets in that order in both weeks.

France paid around NOK 76 per kilogram (USD 7.91, EUR 6.92) during both weeks, while the Netherlands paid NOK 72 per kilogram (USD 7.50, EUR 6.56) during the same time period. Poland saw slightly higher prices in Week 29, around NOK 67 per kilogram (USD 6.97, EUR 6.10), dropping to NOK 69 per kilogram (USD 7.18, EUR 6.29) in Week 30.

Poland is almost always the biggest importer of Norwegian salmon by mass, thanks to its large processing and reexport sector. It also tends to be the most price sensitive of the big markets for Norwegian salmon. This is likely due to the fact that smokers and processors are more driven by price than freshness since they are processing the salmon they buy.

The biggest markets for fresh, whole Atlantic salmon from Norway by price in Week 29 were China, Spain, the Netherlands, France, and Poland. In Week 30, the top five were China, Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, and Poland.

The biggest markets by mass for whole, fresh Atlantic salmon for both Week 29 and Week 30 were Poland, China, the Netherlands, Spain, and France.

The biggest markets for fresh salmon fillets by price in Week 29 were Spain, the U.S. France, Japan, and Poland. In Week 30, the biggest markets by price were the U.S., Japan, Spain, France, and Poland.

The top markets for fresh Atlantic salmon fillets from Norway by mass were, in both Week 29 and Week 30, the U.S., Poland, France, Japan, and Spain in that order.
