Slapfish rolling out new menu promotions as it expands across US and into London

Fast-casual restaurant chain Slapfish is gearing up for National Sandwich Day in the United States (3 November) by featuring its Clobster Grilled Cheese at 23 of its locations across the country. This latest promotion follows a month-long series of new menu additions from the expanding franchise in honor of National Seafood Month.

Achieved by melting a mix of lobster, crab, and a creamy herb sauce together, the Clobster Grilled Cheese is considered by Slapfish Founder and Executive Chef Andrew Gruel as a “seafood superhero.”

"Clobster is a meltingly tender, toasted mix of crab and Maine lobster on sourdough bread. It’s a seafood superhero. Slapfish sandwiches are our passion – they are all roll-up-your-sleeves worthy," Gruel said.

All proceeds collected for sandwiches purchased at Slapfish’s Southern California locations on 3 November will be donated to Save The Brave, a nonprofit organization which connects veterans through outreach programs, the company said.

Throughout October – known as National Seafood Month in the U.S. – Slapfish was busy rolling out a host of new menu items starring various seafood species. The items introduced this month include Nashville Style Hot Fish Sandwich with Chesapeake Blue Catfish, featuring buttermilk fried blue catfish finished with "five-alarm pepper paint" and topped with cool cabbage slaw, housemade pickles, and Jersey sauce; Lobster Boil, highlighting Maine lobster and paired with housemade slaw, natural-cut fries, creamy clam chowder, and drawn butter; and the Miso-Glazed Barramundi Bowl, featuring sustainably farmed barramundi that has been pan griddled with sweet miso and served with vegetable fried rice.

Additionally, Slapfish announced in October its plans to open four more locations by the end of 2019, including its first international outpost which just opened in London, England. New storefronts in Carmel, Indiana; Pooler, Georgia; and Hilton Head, South Carolina should be open by year’s end as well, the company said.

More than 50 Slapfish locations at various stages of development are currently in the works in the U.S. and around the globe, the franchise confirmed. The company recently formed an alliance with the restaurants division of MAC HAIK ENTERPRISES LTD (MHE), a Houston, Texas-based diversified investment company, which has purchased the rights to develop at least 30 Slapfish locations in Texas and Arkansas.

“Slapfish is truly a unique restaurant brand delivering outstanding chef driven seafood in a fast casual model. They fit our profile of brands that are relevant for today’s informed consumer and stand out from the crowd,” MHE CEO Blake Randolph said in a press release announcing the alliance.
