US government to make large catfish purchase

The United States Department of Agriculture plans to purchase a large quantity of frozen catfish via its Section 32 program to be used in the National School Lunch Program and other federal food and nutrition assistance programs.

The agency is seeking 720,000 pounds of breaded catfish strips. Suppliers must submit bids by 23 June, and the winning suppliers will be named by 30 June, USDA said in a solicitation notice.

Deliveries to several United States cities, including Sacramento, California; Jackson, Mississippi; and Richmond, Virginia, will be made between 16 August and 15 December, 2020.

“Offerors are cautioned to bid only quantities they can reasonably expect to produce and deliver,” USDA said in the notice.

Bids must be submitted electronically via the Web-Based Supply Chain Management System (WBSCM). Offers submitted by any means other than WBSCM will be deemed non-responsive, the agency said.

Questions should be directed to the Contracting Officer; USDA, AMS, Room 3522-South; 1400 Independence Avenue, S.W.; Washington, D.C. 20250-0239. Or, suppliers can call 202-720-4517.
