The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) is asking seafood suppliers to bid on a government contract for Atlantic pollock, haddock, and ocean perch by 8 September.
The government is seeking to buy 60,300 cases of frozen Atlantic pollock fillets, 31,500 cases of frozen ocean perch fillets, and 23,400 cases of frozen haddock fillets.
This fish will be used in the National School Lunch Program and other Federal Food and Nutrition Assistance Programs.
Winning bidders, which will be announced by midnight on 15 September, will deliver the fish to numerous U.S. cities between 1 October and 31 December, 2020.
The U.S. government has already purchased a large amount of fish in 2020, including around 10.7 million pounds of wild Alaska pollock worth USD 22.65 million (EUR 19 million), according to Genuine Alaska Pollock Producers (GAPP).
The USDA recently awarded Trident a contract to deliver nearly 1.5 million pounds of frozen bulk pollock worth USD 2.27 million (EUR 1.92 million).
