The Alaska Department of Fish and Game and National Marine Fisheries Service has set the 2013/2014 Alaska Bering Sea snow crab total allowable catch at 53.9 million pounds.
The TAC is 19 percent lower than last year’s 66 million pounds.
The fishery is set to open 15 October.
