Another Bristol Bay seafood marketing rep resigns

Sue Aspelund has resigned her position as executive director of the Bristol Bay Regional Seafood Development Association (BBRSDA), effective 15 May.

Aspelund’s departure comes less than two weeks after Robert Heyano, president and founding member of the association, resigned.

Aspelund will continue as BBRSDA’s fiscal officer through the end of July in order to ensure a smooth transition as a new executive director is named. In a statement, she voiced the desire to enjoy more time at home, fishing for shrimp in crab off Lummi Island in Washington.

“The BBRSDA is in very good shape for someone else to take the helm,” said Fritz Johnson, president of the board. “We anticipate a smooth transition as Sue assumes the fiscal officer role next month. On behalf of the board and members, we wish Sue bumper crops, calm seas and full pots on her retirement.”
