With the season winding down, fishermen and processors agreement that the Bering Sea snow crab is a welcome change from last year's when record ice dragged it out until June.
“The season so far is just going fine. There’s no comparison to last year when the ice was an issue,” said Unisea Crab Manager Al Mendoza. “Last year was extreme,” he added.
Over 80 percent of the 66.3 million pound quota had been harvested as of Monday, Mendoza said.
