Boston-based Channel Fish Processing on Tuesday announced it has agreed to purchase the assets and brand of North Atlantic Fish Co.
Based in Gloucester, Mass., North Atlantic Fish is primarily a value-added seafood processor.
Channel Fish has also purchased new equipment to install in the Gloucester facility in the coming weeks before moving all processing into its Boston plant by the end of the year.
“We feel that the timing was right to make this move,” said John and Roy Zaffiro, owners of Channel Fish. “The culture and values of North Atlantic are so similar to ours that the integration of the two companies should be seamless. We will be the only family-run value-added company left in the Northeast, and our feeling is that the entire industry is looking for an alternative to the conglomerates that remain.”
