China overseas fisheries body trademarks logo with goal of upping global profile

China has launched a new trademark logo for the catch from its growing long-distance fishing fleet, with the goal of increasing its profile in international markets.

The newly revealed logo was registered with the national trademarks bureau by the China Long Distance Fishing Industry Association (CLDFIA), a government-backed body of fishing companies which says the logo is part of its efforts to “make the industry more efficient” and to “capture international markets for China-branded long-distan[ce] fisheries.”

The logo will now be placed on products in the domestic market to showcase the “natural” and “superior quality” of the products, according to a statement the CLDFIA sent to media with a copy of the new logo.
