Cho named president, CEO of StarKist

Canned-tuna giant StarKist on Tuesday announced that it appointed In-Soo Cho as its president and CEO.

Cho, former president of Pizza Hut Korea, succeeds Donald Binotto, who was ousted by the company’s board in November.

Cho was formerly the principal of his own consulting firm, Insight & Strategy Co., with a focus on consumer goods and the restaurant industry. In addition, he was an investor, advisor and director of several companies and private equities.

“Leading the StarKist team is an honor, and I am looking forward to taking the business to a new level by working with the dedicated team of people in the United States as well as in other parts of the world, especially American Samoa and Ecudor,” said Cho. “StarKist is one of the most recognized brands in America and is a leader in seafood business. As a company focused exclusively on providing the highest quality seafood to American families, we have a tremendous opportunity to build and expand our business.”

StarKist was acquired by South Korea’s Dongwon Group in 2008.
