Culimer sets sights on Swiss market

Switzerland is the latest market that Culimer is targeting with its high-end, super frozen tuna.

The Dutch company on Thursday said it has received interest from the Swiss market about its super frozen tuna products. The product has potential in Switzerland, where the market focuses on high-quality, responsibly caught seafood, according to Culimer.

Culimer will exhibit its tuna products, in addition to its shrimp, king crab and snow crab products, at the Sirha exhibition in Geneva from 5 to 7 February.

The company said is has seen increasing global acceptance and demand for super frozen tuna, especially in high-end markets.

“The industry [is] realizing that the Japanese have been working with super frozen tuna for a long time already,” said Maarten van Geest, Culimer communications manager. “Realizing that the Japanese can make the best sushi out of tuna that has been frozen at minus 60 degrees C, the seafood industry now finally understands the advantages of super frozen.”
