Cummings named head of American Seafoods subsidiary

American Seafoods announced is named John Cummings as president of its subsidiary, American Marine Ingredients (AMI). In the newly created position, Cummings will lead the company in developing and bringing and bringing to market ingreidents derived from American Seafoods harvest of the sustainable fisheries in Alaska and the Pacific Northwest.

“We are extremely excited to have John back within the American Seafoods’ family,” said Bernt Bodal, American Seafoods CEO and chairman. “His experience and talents are a perfect fit for AMI as it expands the direct marketing of our branded, 54° North premium fish oil and identifies new applications for our marine ingredients in foods, dietary supplements, animal nutrition and pharmaceuticals.”

Cummings served as president of American Pride Seafoods for 11 years, during which time he assembled an organization and leadership team that tripled revenues from continuing operations.

“American Seafoods has an established record of leading the industry in maximizing the value of the fish it harvests,” said Cummings. “I look forward to working with the talented people at AMI and American Seafoods as we continue to develop new products for the rapidly growing market for sustainable marine ingredients.”
