DOC Rescinds Review for Thai and Indian Shrimp Exporters

The Department of Commerce announced in Friday’s Federal Register that it has rescinded the administrative review for 29 Thai exporters and 166 Indian exporters subject to antidumping tariffs on shrimp.

The review period extends from Feb. 1, 2007, to Jan. 31, 2008.

According to the agency, the decision was based on timely withdrawals of the review requests from the petitioner; confirmed statements of no shipments during the period of review; a mistaken initiation; and multiple addresses.

The DOC slapped tariffs on shrimp producers in six Asian and South American countries, including Thailand and India, in early 2005 after the Southern Shrimp Alliance, an eight-state group of shrimp fisherman and processors, filed an antidumping petition in late 2003.
