Next month, Fishery Products International's product line will include the Ice Shrimp brand of cooked and peeled coldwater salad shrimp with a Marine Stewardship Council label.

FPI's product is from the North Atlantic coldwater shrimp fishery in Newfoundland, which was recently certified sustainable by the MSC and is the first Canadian fishery to receive certification. The fishery boasts an annual catch of more than 170 million pounds.

"FPI is excited to have Ice Shrimp join our family of sustainable seafood in our commitment to providing operators with sustainable options that help ensure the world's seafood supply for future generations," says Jim LaBelle, VP of sales and marketing.

Danvers, Mass.-based FPI carries more than a dozen value-added MSC-certified seafood products.
