IPHC sets Pacific halibut quota at 29.223 million pounds

The International Pacific Halibut Commission on Friday approved a 6 percent increase in the halibut quota for the United States and Canada to 29.223 million pounds. The commission met this week in Vancouver, B.C., Canada.

The conference board and processor advisory groups issued different recommendations, at 29.563 million pounds and 29.673 million pounds, respectively.

The overall quota includes sport and commercial fishing allocations for the U.S.-Canadian joint stock.
