Iran’s annual sea food exports value is planned to reach USD 250 million (EUR 185 million) in the next Iranian calendar year, which starts on 21 March 2014, the managing director of Iran’s Aquaculture Cooperatives Union said on Saturday.
The country enjoys potentiality to produce 25,000 tons of fish and shrimp per year, the Fars News Agency quoted Arsalan Qasemi as saying.
While over 14,000 hectares area of aquatic farms has been built across the country, but less than 4,000 hectares area of the farms is being used for aquaculture, he added.
