Marel’s board of directors has appointed Arni Oddur Thordarson (pictured) as CEO with immediate effect.
Thordarson has extensive international business experience within the industrial sector. He has served on the board of directors of Marel since 2005. He replaces Theo Hoen, who have served as Marel CEO since 2009.
Consequently, roles within the board have changed. Asthildur Othardottir is now chairman and Arnar Thor Masson was elected vice chairman.
“In recent years, Marel has strengthened its position as the global market leader in providing advanced equipment, systems and services to the fish, meat and poultry industries. Theo Hoen has been an integral part of the Marel and Stork Food System story for 28 years. On behalf of the board of directors, I would like to thank Theo for his contribution to the growth and success of Marel,” said Otharsdottir.
“We are fortunate that Arni has accepted the role of CEO. Arni has been instrumental in shaping Marel’s strategy during his 8-year tenure as chairman. He has broad international industrial experience and knows the company and its markets inside and out.”
