Mazzetta donates one million seafood meals

SeaShare on Wednesday recognized Mazzetta Company for donating more than 1 million seafood meals in 2010, making it the hunger-relief non-profit’s top contributor.

“Mazzetta’s incredible support was a real bright spot in our donation efforts last year. The economy, coupled with a strong seafood market, made 2010 a difficult year for donations,” said Jim Harmon, SeaShare executive director. “We reached out to all of our supporters, and were surprised by the generosity of many seafood companies. None has made a bigger impact than Mazzetta Company, and we hope that Mazzetta’s support and example can help us access even more seafood for the food bank network this year.”

Illinois-based Mazzetta is a fully integrated, direct importer of seafood products from around the world.

“Mazzetta Company and our Seamazz branded product are proud supporters of SeaShare’s work on hunger relief,” said Tom Mazzetta, founder and CEO. “SeaShare is precisely the kind of program every NFI member should be a part of, and in addition, there is surely no more positive way to promote seafood consumption.”
