Mazzetta to build new processing plant with Norwegian partner

American seafood producer Mazzetta Co. is planning a new salmon processing facility with Norwegian partner company Hofseth International, but so far neither company is divulging any details.

Mazzetta, in its annual Corporate Responsibility Report, indicated it is working to increase its salmon processing capacity.

“In 2016, we plan to partner with Hofseth on a brand-new, state-of-the-art fresh salmon processing facility,” the company wrote.

The report did not indicate how large the facility would be, how much it would cost or where it would be located. Neither company has responded to requests for more information from SeafoodSource.

Mazzetta first began working with Hofseth with a partnership started in 2008. Today, Mazzetta owns more than 13 percent of Hofseth’s shares, putting Mazzetta among the largest Hofseth shareholders.
