McMurray joins Canadian seafood importer, distributor

Renowned oyster expert and Guinness World Record holder Patrick McMurray has joined a major Canadian seafood distributor and importer.

Seacore Seafood, based in Toronto, has announced McMurray will be working for the company “as a product specialist” in sourcing seafood for the company, including oysters.

“I am excited to join the Team at Seacore!” McMurray said. “The facility is top notch, and that means the product that you order is in the best possible condition when it reaches the customer.”

McMurray is best known for his oyster knowledge and skill at oyster shucking. He holds the current Guinness world record for the most oysters – 38 – shucked in a minute. He has won many awards and oyster-shucking contests, and he has also served as master of ceremonies for the annual oyster-shucking competition at Seafood Expo North America in Boston.

“Patrick’s knowledge and reputation in the oyster industry made it an easy decision to work with him in providing the world’s best oysters from around the globe to our customers” said Sal Battaglia, Seacore’s VP of marketing. “Our goal at Seacore is to provide the best quality products and the largest variety of products direct from the source, in this case the actual oyster growers.”

McMurray is also a restaurateur and author of “Consider the Oyster – A Shucker’s Field Guide.”
