Norwegian salmon prices rose 7 percent in January

Norwegian salmon prices increased 7.41 percent over the second week of January 2022 and are up 6.63 in 2023, according to the Nasdaq Salmon Index.

The weighted average index of weekly reported sales prices and volumes of fresh Atlantic superior salmon, head-on gutted, reported by a panel of Norwegian salmon exporters and salmon producers, found the average per-kilo price of Norwegian salmon to be NOK 96.09 (USD 9.69, EUR 8.97).

Fish Pool reported total sales volumes for Norwegian salmon exporters the second week of January 2023 was down 25 percent from the prior week, and down 629 tons, or 4 percent compared to corresponding weeks in 2022. 

The total volume of Norwegian salmon exports over the past five weeks decreased 5 percent, similar to the same period in 2022.
