Pacific Seafood Group of Portland, Ore., on Wednesday pledged to donate 30,000 pounds of seafood to the Oregon Food Bank Network's annual Great Food Drive.
The drive's goal is to collect 1 million pounds of food by month's end.
"Pacific Seafood fully supports the efforts of the Oregon Food Bank Network, and we take great pride in a project that will help fight hunger in our local communities," said Frank Dulcich, president and CEO of Pacific Seafood, in a press release. "Seafood offers an array of health benefits including protection against many diseases, and we are pleased to be able to provide an important protein source, which is often lacking in food drives, for such a worthy cause."
Last year, the Oregon Food Bank Network gathered and distributed 57.7 million pounds of food to 365 food pantries in Oregon and Clark County, Wash.
