Pescanova: ‘Sustained growth’ expected

Spanish-based fishing and seafood company the Pescanova Group on Tuesday announced its first-half results, including an increase in EBITDA to EUR 27.6 million, up from EUR 26.9 million during the first half of 2010.

The company, which operates in 21 countries and has about 3,400 employees, also reported an increase in operating income to EUR 40.2 million in the first half of 2011, up from EUR 33.3 million in 2010. Net income was also up to EUR 15.2 million, compared to EUR 12.6 million last year.

“To sum up, the positive evolution of the activities in which the Pescanova Group is engaged, i.e. the obtaining and marketing of seafood under its brand names, as well as the forseeable evolution of the European Union and the euro, allow us to trust that the sustained growth of both turnover and results of the Pescanova Group will continue to improve in 2011,” said the company.
